The Best New Small Designer Handbag

Last week, one of my editors tipped me off to some designer handbags generating quite a bit of buzz with bloggers and street style stars. – The Small Reid satchel by PLIA Designs, new for Spring 2014.   Editors alike have traded nearly eight pages of information, photos and opinions on the bags, and we’ve got all the images and information you could want to make one of these little darlings your next acquisition!

Although the PLIA Designs Small Reid satchels (referred to as such because they are a smaller version of the lines now famous original Reid satchel) are making their official debut right now, the design heavily references small courier satchels from the 1800’s.  What an amazing source of inspiration! This new Small Red satchel comes in one size and is priced from $310.00.  This is one of those luxurious designer handbags that also comes with a detachable strap.  This means it can be carried crossbody and your hands are free!  When I’m in the city, I love carrying my handbag in the crossbody way and I know many other editors do as well.  During Fashion Week we have so many things in our hands, who wants to also have to carry a handbag?

These beautiful designer handbags come in an array of delicious leathers and fabrics.  There are two full leather bodies.  One is a hot pink calf skin.  I LOVE this color!!!  I’ve never seen a bag this amazing shade of bright pink.  It’s so out there and loud.  The other leather is blue.  Not as bright as the pink, but equally as beautiful.  Then are are two fabric bodies.  One is a very creative print with blueberries, and the other is a printed twill canvas.  The blueberry print is so chic and different than anything I have ever seen.  It’s sure to be a hit with celebrities who love their designer handbags.

As with the first Reid satchels, the interior of the new smaller collection is superb.  The inside is crafted of a lovely custom quilted fabric in steel grey.  There is an iPad pocket, credit card pockets and two smartphone pockets.  (I know many of my editorial fashion colleagues use both an iPhone and a Blackberry.)  It also fits a smaller 13 inch, slim laptop.  A lot of people are switching to the thinner and lighter MacBook Airs.  This is the perfect satchel to tote around your smaller laptop.  The interior of the handbag is sewn down which is fantastic because when you reach in to pull something out, the lining does not come out also.  On the exterior bottom of the handbag are two sewn leather strips and also silver feet.

It’s a beautiful smaller satchel and great for when you do not need a very large bag.  It’s roomy enough for your daily and even night essentials, but not too big.  It’s also a light handbag.  So many bags these days are heavy even before you deposit your contents into them. Below, we have images of the new Small Reid Satchel by PLIA Designs.
